Paetow High School, new to Katy ISD, thinks beyond the traditional. And that starts with the new, three-story, L-shaped design, which reflects an emphasis on student-driven learning and real-world connections. A "learning green" the size of 8 football fields is one of many unique features that you'll discover when you visit for the first time. And three sets of "learning stairs" provide spaces for students and teachers to gather for collaborative learning, arts performances and other activities.
Paetow offers a well-rounded curriculum that acknowledges the importance of arts and athletics. Art classrooms have access to outdoor studio areas, and a 900-seat performing arts center sets the stage for performances. Students have the opportunity to participate in 16 sports—including swimming in the onsite natatorium.
And then there's the technology. Filtered WiFi is present in each classroom, along with five Chromebooks available for student use (family-owned devices are more than welcome as well). Each classroom also has a 55-inch smart panel computer, allowing students and teachers to conduct research and share presentations with the entire class. Paetow also brings in guest speakers (Google was one of the first) that will help every student find his or her path and passion, whether that’s going to college or finding an apprenticeship. (Sorry, seniors. You can't stay here forever.)
