Elyson Adventure Point Playground

Discover what’s in store for Adventure Point, opening in Elyson in late 2025

Adventure Point, Elyson’s newest park, will live up to its name with up-and-down terrain where kids of all ages can climb rocks and ropes, clamber over boulders and shoot hoops.

Planned to open in late 2025, Adventure Point will also have a pavilion and lawn for spontaneous activities such as exercise classes, concerts and birthday parties.

With so many activities available, Adventure Point will appeal to a wide range of families with children from toddlers to preteens.

This new park will be located at Elyson Boulevard and Elyson Lakes Drive, just west of Katy-Hockley Cut-Off Road. It will be surrounded by several lakes and connected to Elyson’s trail system, which will extend for more than 30 miles when completed.

What’s in store for Elyson residents when Adventure Point opens? Here’s a quick look at some of its main activities.

Boardwalk to fun

A boardwalk trail will pass between the central playground features of Adventure Point, providing kids with a fun path to wander through the park. It will also be an accessible route for all abilities.

Parts of the boardwalk will be raised up two feet, while other playground surfaces dip down three feet, with play equipment inviting kids to slide down and climb back up the five feet of vertical change.

Radiating out along the boardwalk, rubberized surfaces will have shapes and colors resembling cascades and other water features, encouraging children to adventure off the boardwalk to explore cushiony boulders and climbing structures with rock walls and ropes.

“While we wanted this to be a playground space with lots of vertical movement, we also wanted to be sure the park is accessible to all,” said Andrew Gressett, an associate designer with SWA Houston, which created the park design.

As the land rises and falls throughout Adventure Park, the changes are designed to spark young imaginations with a sense of exploration and discovery, he said.

Let’s gather

Adventure Point will have several event areas, including a roofed pavilion with a raised stage. The stage will be flexible, allowing the pavilion to host birthday parties, small gathering of friends and other occasions.

A grassy activity lawn next to the pavilion is also intended to be fully flexible. Whether residents are gathering to fly kites, meet up for an outdoor group fitness activity, or play an impromptu soccer game, the lawn is designed to host many kinds of gatherings.

Basketball for all

One of the most colorful parts of Adventure Park will be a long basketball backboard with rims set at varying heights, appealing to the diverse age groups expected to use the park.

Colorful ground surfaces will feature Elyson’s signature color palette of vivid earth and sky tones, and graphics will mark shot goals for different age groups.

Immersed in nature

Nature will be a big part of Adventure Point, which will have two bioswales densely planted with rain gardens, designed to naturally filter rainwater before releasing back into the environment.

Perennial pollinator plants will be planted throughout the bioswales, along with ornamental grasses and trees such as bald cypress and sweetgums to provide seasonal color changes.

Trees and other landscaping will extend from the bioswales into the various play areas, giving kids the sense of being immersed in nature.

Some of the largest oaks will be planted around the seating areas, providing shade for parents as they watch kids play.

More new parks

The end of 2025 will be an exciting time to discover new amenities at Elyson, with Adventure Park expected to open shortly after the opening of Speedway Park.

These two new parks will join other Elyson amenities ranging from major community centers and parks like Lakeside Landing, Elyson House and Elyson Commons, to smaller neighborhood amenities such as Kaleidoscope Park and Fireside Park.
