Katy ISD ranks No. 1 in the Houston area for 2025
Elyson is proud to be part of the Katy Independent School District, ranked the No. 1 Best School District in the Houston Area for 2025 by Niche.
Katy ISD has an overall A+ grade from Niche, with an A for Academics, and A+ grades for College Prep, Teachers, Clubs & Activities and Administration.
Katy ISD swept other No. 1 rankings among more than 50 Houston area school districts rated by Niche, including:
- #1 District with the Best Teachers in the Houston Area
- #1 Best School Districts for Athletes in the Houston Area
- #1 Best Places to Teach in the Houston Area
In Texas, Katy ISD ranks among the top 1% of all school districts statewide, placing No. 7 out of 883 districts rated. Katy ISD also ranks No. 2 in Best Places to Teach in Texas.
Nationwide, Katy ISD ranks in the top 1% of the more than 10,000 districts analyzed by Niche.
Niche also ranks individual schools, but all of the Katy ISD schools zoned to Elyson are too new to rank, as the company uses multiple data sets such as standardized test scores, along with reviews from real students, parents and teachers.
Students living in Elyson attend McElwain Elementary, opened in 2020, and Youngblood Elementary, opened in 2023. Another new Katy ISD elementary school is planned to open in Elyson in 2025.
Elyson students also attend Nelson Junior High and Freeman High, both opened in 2024.
Elyson is also home to Harmony School of Excellence – Katy, part of an A-rated system of high-performing, STEM-focused charter schools. Harmony serves grades Pre-K through 12 at its 26-acre campus in Elyson.
