The perfect backyard view sells the Richter family on Elyson
Brett and Chelsea Richter were happy enough living in their northwest Houston neighborhood, but they dreamed of a new home with lake views in a larger community.
When they decided to officially start their new home search, their real estate agent, Logan Lester with RE/MAX Fine Properties, strongly recommended Highland Homes, an award-winning Texas builder for 40 years.
It didn’t take long for the Richters to set their sights on Elyson, where Highland has been a leading builder since the community opened in 2016.
Highland offers three different collections in Elyson, and the Richters were drawn to the expansive lake views offered in a neighborhood of 65-foot-wide homesites.
“We love our lake view. Whether the sun is setting or there’s rain falling on the water, it’s always a wonderful, open feeling,” Brett says.
The Richters chose Highland’s Plan 222, a two-story home with a covered outdoor living area for enjoying the lake views. The family also added a pool to make their picture-perfect backyard even more enjoyable.
Along with water views, the Richters are finding much more to love about their new community, including the location and the highly regarded Katy ISD schools awaiting their two-year-old daughter.
“Our home is within walking distance of Youngblood Elementary, and we’re excited about the middle school and high school that just opened. They are all very close to us,” Brett said.
Youngblood Elementary, Nelson Junior High and Freeman High form a K-12 tri-campus for Katy ISD, located at the intersection of Longenbaugh Road and Katy-Hockley Road.
The schools are immediately adjacent to the western edge of Elyson’s 3,600-acre master plan, and plans call for the campuses to be connected to the community’s extensive trail system, which will extend for almost 30 miles when completed.
After living in Elyson for about half a year, both Brett and Chelsea have become big fans of the community’s location along the Grand Parkway, about halfway between I-10 West and U.S. Highway 290 West.
“I’m in dental equipment sales and Chelsea’s in pharmaceutical sales, so our cars are our offices,” says Brett. “Elyson’s location makes it easy for Chelsea to travel south of I-10, where most of her territory is, and it helps me get all over the city.”
