Model Home Features We Love – Flexible Options For The Ways We Live
When you tour the 14 beautifully decorated model homes in Elyson’s Model Home Village, what you see isn’t all you get.
In many cases, the floor plan layouts you see are one of several options available to homebuyers, allowing you to easily customize your new home for the way you live. This could be a second home office, fitness room, added storage, or even a wine room that would make any connoisseur blush with envy.
“Flex rooms” have become common in many floor plans. Usually, this adaptable space is a room near the front door that can be finished as a formal living or dining area, a bedroom, or a study.
Elyson’s new model homes take the flex room concept to a totally new level, offering homebuyers the opportunity to customize spaces in many areas of the home, with features that go far beyond adding a wall or a pair of French doors.
Here are four of our favorite examples of flexible floor plan options you can see in Elyson’s Model Home Village.
Pulte’s Super Pantry
A room-sized Super Pantry is one of the most talked-about features in Pulte’s Amherst model home in Elyson.
“It’s a Costco room,” laughs Pulte sales consultant Alexandra LaFont, referring to the Super Pantry’s ability to store large bulk purchases, with space left over for a second full-size refrigerator. A wine refrigerator is displayed in the Super Pantry at Elyson, which also has plenty of room for a coffeemaker and other countertop appliances.
This option can be built instead of the standard Pulte Planning Center, which provides a convenient workspace for homework, planning and other tasks, in an open location between the family room and kitchen.
For the family that needs plenty of work and study space for everyone, the Amherst can be built with up to three home offices. In addition to the Pulte Planning Center, the flex space near the front door can be built as a study with French doors. The extra storage area in the two-car garage can be built as a pocket office that opens to the kitchen and laundry room area.
One of the best things about the Amherst is that it offers buyers so many different options for home office and pantry/storage space. This four-bedroom home can also be built with the fifth bedroom and full private bath in the flex area.
Room for wine
A wine room hidden behind a sliding barn door is showcased in Highland’s one-story Plan 540 model home in Elyson. Built in a space off the foyer that would ordinarily be an extra storage room, this wine room is one of eight structural options available for this plan.
A wine lover’s dream feature, this room includes a wall of diagonal bin racks, with additional cabinet and countertop space, a bar sink and wine refrigerator.
A second wine-friendly option is located in the open family room and kitchen area. Complete with counter space and upper and lower cabinets, this built-in also makes a convenient butler’s pantry.
While not shown in the model, Plan 540 offers a Flex Gen living suite that can be created by combining two of the secondary bedrooms. Ideal for multigenerational families and other dual living situations, the Flex Gen suite has a large bedroom area, a full bath and walk-in closet. It has a private entrance from the foyer, nicely separating it from other areas of the home.
For more space, Plan 540 also offers a second floor options that can be built with a gameroom and fifth bedroom, or just with a gameroom.
Exercise at home
With options for a home fitness center, a pet spa or a second study, Highland’s highly flexible Plan 216 model home in Elyson is a perfect design for the different ways people live in their homes today.
This model home has 15 structural options, and the five we’re most excited about invite buyers to transform the third garage bay into a room that matches their needs and interests.
At Elyson, this flex space is built as a fitness room complete with a mini fridge and bar, storage closet and ample wall outlets. It’s displayed as a super-efficient fitness area, complete with cardio and weight equipment, ceiling fan and motivating artwork.
So while Elyson offers an awesome fitness center at Elyson House, and has a new outdoor training park coming later this year to Elyson Commons at Bear Creek, this option is perfect for people who prefer to work at home for convenience and other reasons.
Other possibilities for this space include building it as pet spa with a sink, cabinets and built-in grooming table. It can be built as a second home office, complete with a built-in partners desk with shelving and cabinets. A fourth option is to combine this flex space with the existing laundry area to create a super laundry center and craft room with a second walk-in pantry.
Plan 216 also offers two options for Flex Gen multigenerational living suites.
Up to 6 bedrooms
Taylor Morrison’s Bordeaux model home in Elyson has two flex areas that can be customized with a myriad of options, including making this a six-bedroom home with three bedrooms down and three up.
The tandem bay in the three-car garage is a flex area that can be customized by adding a fifth bedroom with a full bath. Located off the kitchen and laundry area, this suite is extremely private, making an ideal guest bedroom.
The flex area off of the foyer offers more options for customizing, including adding a study with French doors or a sixth bedroom with a fifth bath.
This versatile plan also has a number of alternate layouts for the kitchen, primary suite and primary bath, along with opportunities for an extended covered outdoor living area and outdoor fireplace. Where the homesite allows, there is also an option for a four-car garage.
