Elyson close to growing Katy medical center
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s new Katy area building will soon be the latest addition to a growing concentration of world-class healthcare facilities near Elyson.
Located near I-10 West and Highway 6, this new location will be MD Anderson’s first complete standalone facility outside of the Texas Medical Center. The new 175,000-square-foot building is planned to open by 2018. Currently, this world-renowned cancer center already has three patient care facilities in West Houston.
Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital also have growing state-of-the-art hospitals in Katy, and specialized clinics and emergency care facilities are establishing new facilities in the area as well.
During 2015 alone, $400 million in capital invest was committed to healthcare projects and expansion in the Katy area, according to the Katy Economic Development Council. Already, the healthcare industry employs more than 4,000 workers in the Katy area.
